Capt. J. Mike Hoke is a Richmond native who has fished the James
River regularly since age 5 and the Chesapeake Bay region since
age 7. He has citations in 9 different freshwater species
(multiple citations in most species) and 5 different saltwater
species in VA and NC. With nearly 30 years of experience
plying the world class fisheries from Richmond to the Eastern
Shore barrier islands, Capt. Mike put in the time to attain the
expertise and confidence needed to become a professional guide.
Noteworthy recent accomplishments include a 2nd place finish in
the 2007 Big Cat Quest hourly competition and 2nd place in the
2007 World Black Drum Championship - boating a 78 lb drum while
fishing alone. He also has a wealth of knowledge of the
rich history and many landmarks along the James River watershed.
