Type the details of your news item here...The weather has been all over the place lately and as a result so have the water temps. On march 25th we had water temp approaching the mid 60's and by april 1st we were back in the mid 50s with high water. Since then cool night and strong winds the past couple weeks have kept water temps betwen 59 to 62 degrees, but the water will warm quickly this coming week with day time temps in the upper 80s forecasted. That will effect the day time fishing, causing the fish to start biting at night and reports of big fish 70 + pounds should really pickup in the next few weeks up till they spawn. Flathead fishing should be at it peak and shad fishing is nearing its peak and fishing will continue to be prime before they spawn on the next full moon. Striped bass fishing is very good and most fish we are catching have been on cut hickory shad and ranging 10 to 20 pounds with the largest last week weighing 24 pounds. Crappie fishing has been great and the fish continue to bite well. Most have spawned on the last full moon, but continue to be bedded up in the upper reaches of tidal creeks and marshes and are easily caught on small minnows once located. Good fishing Capt. Mike Hoke

Type the details of your news item here...The winter really never showed up for the first time in my life nothing froze. As a result the fishing has been good and will only continue to geat better from here on out. The shad will ne here next week I am sure and the stripers are already here. I have been mostly panfishing for citation yellow perch and have caught several fish each time but nothing like we should see in about two weeks with some fish pushing 2 pounds. We fished the James the week before between two cold fronts and managed to catch a few fish up to 21 pounds. The crappie fishing has never been better and continues to provide great catches and we haven't caught a citation yet but several measured 12 to 14 inch. Some great fishing to be enjoyed so grab your buddy and lets go fishing. The National Bass pro Big Cat quest tounament trail will be making a stop in richmond virginia on march 17th 2012 out of osbourne landing and I have my son thomas hoke fishing with me. Good luck fishing
